Daniels’ method is about constraint and limitation. The shapes are clean, minimal, reduced, originating not from movement or gesture, but from external elements – signs, windows, objects. Yet through simplification (and often repetition) these shapes have become ambiguous and abstract. Bright, noisy, strong yet never harsh, these paintings explore specific shapes through assorted combinations of colour.
