ABOUT SLADMORE

While the swinging sixties might be better known for the developments in the music & fashion industries, it also impacted on the thriving art scene. It was in the midst of this Cultural Revolution that Sladmore Contemporary was established at 32 Bruton Place in 1965. Situated just off Berkeley Square, the gallery has exhibited contemporary and modern sculpture for over 50 years.

Originally established as a gallery of purely ‘Animaliers’ sculpture, selling bronze sculpture by well-known sculptors of the 19th and 20th century, we now represent a much wider range of artists, including ceramists, multimedia assemblage artists and carvers in stone and wood. We continue to specialise in sculpture that draws inspiration from the natural world, from Nic Fiddian- Green’s monumental, aged bronze horse heads, popular landmarks over the world, to Mark Coreth’s highly textured animals in action. Our fixation is with the impact of 3D objects, the power of making and the satisfaction to be found in sensing the touch and feel of the artist's hand in the sculpted object.

The Sladmore Gallery on Jermyn Street continues to show rare and important sculpture by 19th and 20th century masters, such as Rembrandt Bugatti, Edgar Degas and Auguste Rodin. The gallery has a regular program of important exhibitions, accompanied by publications such as Edward Horswell's world renowned monograph on Rembrandt Bugatti. Sladmore has regularly shown at Masterpiece London, The Maastricht Fine Art Fair and the Paris Biennale, as well as holding regular exhibitions of our artists in New York, Paris and other centres of artistic excellence.
