JUNCTIONS: Hurst Contemporary at MYO King's Cross: Jiatong Yuan, Sophia Pauley, and Catherine Ko Chen
On the 2nd floor of MYO King's Cross, abstraction takes complete hold with artworks provided by Hurst Contemporary as part of a massive group show. The dissolution of form takes place with varying degrees through there works of Jiatong Yuan, Sophia Pauley, and Catherine Ko Chen, creating a musical dialogue as you move down the corridors. There’s a peaceful calm to how details fade in Catherine’s works, almost like contemplating some beautiful scenery through soft eyes. Whereas Jiatong’s forms are explosive and outward, leaping off the canvas. Both of these extremes are mediated, like a conductor’s baton, by Sophia’s cleanly disordered lines and splatters.
