LUMINESCENCE: Group show at Labombe

Overview

Featured in this new exhibition at Labombe are the works of four female artists, each of whom come from different corners of the world but have made another home in London. It only goes to show the vibrant diversity of talent in the city’s art scene. Luminescence is when an object naturally gives off light without needing any heat. An apt description for these artists as their practices emit a unique light from within. They have incredible talent and momentum. And though they don’t need it, we’re shining a light on them because they

deserve it. Katherine Qiyu Su’s abstracted compositions are full of motion and colour, they seem to capture an entire choreography in a single instant. On the other end of the scale are Celia Mora’s dreamlike figurative scenes, twinkling with a quiet opulence. Fluctuating between the concrete and the abstract are the works of Emma Windsor Liscombe which feel like recalling a memory. Similarly overlapping multiple states are Eva Dixon’s pieces; embodying sculpture and painting, improvisation and deliberation, trash and treasure.

Labombe earning a Michelin Star within its first year is emblematic of its tireless growth and ambition. Hence the decision to feature artists who’re similarly ambition, unafraid of pushing boundaries in their field, and open to influences from around the world.
