JUNCTIONS: Brooke Benington Gallery at MYO King's Cross: Katie Tomlinson, Ross Taylor, Alan Stanners, and Tom Jean Webb
As part of our group show at MYO King's Cross, Brooke Bennington Gallery have provided the works for the 1st floor. There’s a flatness to the figures in Alan Stanner’s portraits which places them in slightly surreal situations. We feel as if we’ve walked in on something, catching them in the middle of the act. Through the still lives of Tom Jean Webb (more of his works on the 5th floor) we’re encouraged to appreciate the minute and theatrical details that surround us. Conversely, the imagery flowing through Katie Tomlinson’s works appear like random snippets from a dream or a faraway memory. Meanwhile Ross Taylor’s busy compositions feel like studying the secret lives of strange lifeforms under a microscope.
