Ella is a London-based painter working primarily in large-scale oil painting. She graduated with a First Class Honours from Central Saint Martins in 2024 and is a current participant in the Crème Fraîche Incubator Programme, where she maintains a full-time studio practice at the Crème Fraîche studios in Westbourne Grove.
Her practice engages with family photography as an archive, examining how memory and desire are mediated and constructed through images. Tailoring traditional oil painting techniques, her work interrogates the instability of photographic truth and the ways personal histories are shaped and evolved by repetition of embellished recollections and story telling. She is interested in the disparity between documentation and fiction, and how painting can re-stage inherited narratives through material and temporal distance. Her paintings often adopt a cinematic register, refiguring familial subjects through the visual language of celebrity and spectacle.
She exhibited in New Voices in Contemporary Art at Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery (2026) and held a solo exhibition at the Creme Fraiche Viewing Rooms, Bloomsbury, in 2025. Her next solo show, opening 1st of October, is titled Lest we remember one hundred percent accurately and will be on display in the Creme Fraiche Viewing Rooms for the entire of October 2026.
